Programme Introduction
IB Career Related Programme
The IB Career-related Programme (CP) is a unique educational framework that combines academic rigor with practical, career-focused learning. Designed for students aged 16–19, the CP integrates IB Diploma Programme courses with career-related studies and a core that develops personal and professional skills.
At Dar Al Marefa, the IBCP prepares students not only for university but also for meaningful careers and lifelong learning.
The IBCP
LEARNING MODEL
The IBCP is built on a three-part structure that ensures a balance between academic excellence and career readiness:
-
IB Diploma Programme (DP) Courses: provide academic rigor and theoretical knowledge
-
Career-related Study (CRS): develops practical, industry-relevant skills
-
CP Core: builds personal, ethical, and professional competencies
This integrated model allows students to connect theory with practice, preparing them for higher education, employment, or entrepreneurship.
Core Components
of the IBCP
At the heart of the programme is the CP Core, which develops the IB learner profile and essential life skills.
1. Personal and Professional Skills (PPS): Students develop communication, critical thinking, and self-management skills needed for both academic and professional success.
Reflective Project (RP): An in-depth research project exploring an ethical issue related to a student’s career pathway, encouraging critical thinking and reflection.
Community Engagement (CE): Students engage with their community, applying knowledge to real-life contexts and developing social responsibility.
Language & Cultural Studies (LCS): Students enhance intercultural understanding and communication through additional language learning.
IBCP at
Dar Al Marefa
At Dar AlMarefa School, the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) is delivered within a bilingual (Arabic & English), student-centered environment that supports both academic achievement and career readiness.
A key feature of the programme is the Career-related Study (CRS), delivered through the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in International Business. This provides students with practical, industry-relevant skills and real-world understanding of business, complementing their IB academic studies.
Students benefit from a balanced pathway that combines:
-
IB Diploma Programme subjects for academic rigor
-
BTEC studies for applied, career-focused learning
-
CP Core for personal and professional development
Supported by strong university and career guidance, the IBCP at Dar Al Marefa prepares students for higher education, employment, and future career success, while helping them develop confidence, independence, and a global perspective
Career-related Study
(CRS)
The Career-related Study is a key element of the IBCP, allowing students to specialize in a chosen field (such as Business, IT, or other vocational pathways like BTEC).
It provides:
-
Practical, real-world learning experiences
-
Preparation for university, internships, or employment
-
Development of industry-relevant skills
Students apply theoretical knowledge in meaningful contexts, preparing them for future pathways.
IBCP
